About
The East Brunswick Environmental Commission is responsible for the protection, development and use of the natural resources of the Township of East Brunswick. In doing so the Commission has established the "The East Brunswick Butterfly Park", the Annual "Salamander and Other Small Amphibian and Reptile Protection Program", and other environmental programs. The Commission also reviews development applications and provides comments on environmental concerns to the Planning and Zoning Boards.
In conjunction with the 'Friends of the East Brunswick Environmental Commission', the East Brunswick Community Garden was created in 2009. The 'Environmental Commission' and the 'Friends of the East Brunswick Environmental Commission' have also sponsored an annual lecture series, Commercial and Residential Solar Forums and a 'Freecycle' recycling/trade event. The 'Commission', 'Friends' and East Brunswick Green Team have also worked diligently to obtain environmental sustainability certification from Sustainable Jersey through 2014 and work towards making East Brunswick a more sustainable Community.
