Removal of Tanks
Aboveground Tank - Removal
- Remove oil from tank
- Cut oil tank in half by removing top
- Remove sludge after squeegeeing
- Hand wipe inside of tank clean
- Remove tank (and fill and vent pipes if separate) and dispose at licensed facility
- Dispose of all waste oil, sludge, water, etc. at licensed facility
- Provide documentation for Number 6 above
Underground Tank - Removal
- Remove oil from tank
- Excavate tank
- Cut hole in tank of adequate size to permit cleaning
- Enter and squeegee tank
- Remove sludge
- Hand wipe inside of tank clean
- Remove tank (and fill and vent pipes if separate)
- Check tank for visible leaks or contaminated soil
- Backfill hole
- Dispose of tank at licensed facility
- Dispose of all waste oil, sludge, water, etc. at licensed facility
- Provide Documentation for Number 11 above
Underground Tank - Petrofill Foam
- Remove oil from tank
- Pour in oil absorbent material such as "Quick -Dry" through oil fill hole
- Pump in petrofill foam or cement slurry through oil fill hole and fill tank completely
- Remove fill pipe and vent pipe
- Dispose of all waste oil, sludge, etc. at licensed facility
- Provide documentation for Number 5 above
Underground Tank - Plastic Gravel, Cement Slurry, Flowable Fill
- Remove oil from tank
- Excavate top of tank
- Cut hole in tank of adequate size to permit cleaning
- Enter and squeegee tank
- Remove sludge
- Hand wipe inside of tank
- Blow in plastic gravel or fill material
- Replace tank cover and seal openings
- Remove fill and vent pipes and seal openings
- Backfill hole
- Dispose of waste oil, sludge, water, etc, at licensed facility
- Provide documentation for Number 11 above
Underground Tank-Sand or Pea Gravel
- Remove oil from tank
- Excavate top of tank
- Cut hole in tank of adequate size to permit cleaning
- Enter and squeegee tank
- Remove sludge
- Hand wipe inside of tank
- Fill tank with sand or pea gravel
- Replace tank cover or dispose of at a licensed facility
- Remove fill and vent pipes
- Backfill hole
- Dispose of waste oil, sludge, water, etc. at licensed facility
- Provide documentation for Number 11 above
