• The alarm ordinance effects all alarms both residential and commercial within the Township.
• The ordinance covers dialer alarms, local bell alarms and alarms connected to a central office.
• All new alarm installations must be registered before being put into operation.
• A ten dollar ($10.00) processing fee must accompany all applications for alarm permits payable to the Township of East Brunswick.
• Failure to comply with the terms of this ordinance can result in a fine of not less than twenty-five dollars ($25.00) or more than five hundred dollars ($500.00) or imprisonment for a period not exceeding ninety (90) days.
• All false alarms in excess of three (3) times in any calendar year may be charged an administrative fee of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) each.
• Dialer alarms, upon registration, must be reprogrammed to call a special number supplied with approval of the permit.
  Alarm systems with an outside bell must be equipped with a cutoff to limit the operation of said bell to no more than fifteen (15) minutes. No sirens are allowed on any alarm system.

Dialer Alarm
The message shall not be transmitted more than three (3) times from a single stimulus. The message shall not exceed fifteen (15) seconds and the time gap between delivery of the messages shall not exceed ten (10) seconds.

Suggested message for Dialer Alarms:

"Standby for an emergency message. This is a recorded message reporting a (Burglary/ Fire) at (address of alarmed premises)".
