Town where the ceremony is taking place if both are from out of state.

Monday thru Thursday, 9:30 - 11:30 and 2:30 - 4:30 by appointment only.

PERSONS REQUIRED TO BE PRESENT FOR LICENSE APPLICATION -
Both applicants, and 1 witness who is 18 years or older & knows the couple and speaks English.
ITEMS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION -
1) Birth certificate or passport
2) Social Security Numbers for both applicants
3) Proof of residency such as driver's license, lease, tax return, etc.
4) If married before or in a domestic partnership or civil union - a certified copy of death certificate, annulment, divorce papers, or termination of domestic partnership or civil union, whichever applies.
5) $28.00 fee
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION NEEDED WHEN APPLYING -
Both applicants need to know -
1) Parents birth places
2) Mother's maiden name
3) Name and address of person performing ceremony
WHEN TO COME IN AND WAITING PERIOD AFTER FILLING OUT OF APPLICATION -
Recommendation is to come in at least two weeks before ceremony. There is a mandated 72 hour waiting period from time of application. (Remember, we are closed on week-ends).
MINORS - Contact Clerk's Office for specific information.
FEES - $28.00 payable to “The Township of East Brunswick” at the time of application.
License is good for 30 days from the date of pick up. Anyone can pick up license.
FILING OF LICENSE -
The license will be recorded in the municipality where the ceremony took place.
CERTIFIED COPY OF MARRIAGE \ CIVIL UNION -
Certified copies can be obtained from the municipality where the ceremony took place.
